Milk Production

Cows produce milk. A cow should, in principle, be milked twice a day for the first three months after the birth of the calf. Therefore, it is more advantageous for the farmer that the cow has a calf every year.

How is milk produced?

In the udder, milk forms in the alveoli. The cells that form milk extract the necessary components from the blood. To make 1 liter of milk, at least 300 to 400 liters of blood must flow into the udder. When the pressure in the milk cistern becomes too great, drops of milk leave the mammary glands.

Mechanical milking of cows.

Nowadays, cows are milked by machine. Four teat cups are attached to the cow's teats. The cow is then milked by a vacuum pump. This method simulates the sucking of a calf.
