Potassium provides firmness and protection against drought and resistance to diseases. Potassium is needed for water and carbohydrate transport. It promotes the formation of roots, tubers, and fruits. Potassium also enhances the flavor and shelf life of the harvest.

What happens with too little potassium?

With an excess of potassium, plants contain more water. Too much potassium inhibits the absorption of magnesium and boron by the plant. With too little potassium, colored spots and wilting of the leaves occur. The plant produces fewer or lower quality flowers. It also becomes much more sensitive to changing weather conditions.
