Digestaat

Digestaat remains after the fermentation of manure. This residual product can be used as fertilizer because it contains many minerals. The composition of digestate and natural manure differs because organic material is broken down during manure fermentation. For plants, digestate contains more easily absorbable nitrogen. When digestate after fermentation consists of less than 50% animal excrement, it cannot be used as fertilizer.

Drying of digestate

Digestate can be dried at high temperatures using residual heat. This drying allows further processing of the digestate. Drying digestate reduces its weight, making transportation cheaper. Dried digestate can also be processed further into pellets and granules.
